FIRST AID ROOM
Thanks to Tract, award-winning landscape architects, urban designers and town planners, for designing the environmentally-sensitive facility. It functions as observation tower, first aid room and shelter in inclement weather.
Volunteer lifesavers from Woolamai Beach SLSC provide surf rescue services for Phillip Island and the San Remo-Kilcunda coast.
Smiths Beach is a beautiful surf destination for young families and learning surfers, which is why nearby Woolamai Beach Surf Life Saving Club has been providing patrols over recent summers. But without a permanent rescue base to provide an observation tower, first aid room and patrol shelter, the club’s ability to provide the vigilant service enjoyed by Victoria's other patrolled beaches is severely restricted.
Tourism is responsible for nearly
of Phillip Island’s economy and employment
As well as the critical service surf lifesaving contributes to our community, our patrolled beaches are a significant contributor to Phillip Island tourism.
With its world-famous natural attractions and stunning surf beaches, Phillip Island is one of Australia’s most popular tourism destinations. Tourist numbers are increasing year-on-year, thanks to increased investment in attractions by government and enterprise, and a recognition that Phillip Island is more reliant on tourism than any other region in Victoria.
A permanent surf rescue base ensures Smiths Beach continues to help make Phillip Island an enjoyable coastal resort destination.
